Pastor Isaac Oyedepo, founder of the Isaac Oyedepo Evangelistic Ministries, has announced that his ministry will begin holding Sunday services in Abuja, stressing that offerings will not be collected in line with what he described as God’s specific instruction to him.
Oyedepo, who is the son of Bishop David Oyedepo, made this known in an online message monitored by Church Times on Tuesday. The announcement was contained in a video posted on Sunday, January 11.
In the video, Pastor Oyedepo explained that the core focus of his ministry is discipleship and equipping people to genuinely follow Jesus Christ, rather than emphasizing traditional financial practices associated with church services.
Addressing the issue of offerings, he said God had given him clear instructions not to collect offerings for this particular assignment. While acknowledging that there is nothing wrong with collecting offerings in other ministries, he noted that his mandate requires him to concentrate solely on the spiritual growth and development of the people.
According to him, the decision is not a critique of other churches but an act of obedience to divine direction guiding his ministry’s operations and priorities.
The announcement coincided with the launch of the ministry’s Sunday services, which are scheduled to hold weekly in Abuja. During the broadcast, Oyedepo stated that the model of the ministry is patterned after the early ministry of Jesus Christ, with emphasis on teaching, discipleship and spiritual formation.
He added that the goal is to raise believers who are deeply grounded in faith and committed to living out the teachings of Christ in their daily lives.
