Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has been granted Full Accreditation for 27 programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), comprising five postgraduate and 22 undergraduate courses.
In a statement released to the press by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Uredo Omale, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, said the accredited programmes span Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Law, Management Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and the College of Health Sciences.
According to the NUC report signed by its Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, undergraduate programmes including Accounting, Business Administration and Public Administration received full accreditation,alongside postgraduate programmes such as M.Sc. Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, Public Administration and MPA Public Administration.
Programmes in Agriculture, including Fisheries and Aquaculture, as well as Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science and Pharmacology in the College of Health Sciences, were also granted full accreditation.
In the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Arabic, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, and English and Literary Studies received full accreditation, while Christian Religious Studies was granted interim status. Computer Science and Law (Common and Islamic Law) were also fully accredited.
Botany, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics and Zoology in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, as well as Economics and Sociology in the Social Sciences, were granted fullaccreditation.
The Vice-Chancellor said the outcome reflects the institution’s academic standards and acknowledged the support of Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He also acknowledged the role of the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, under whose leadership the accreditation exercise was conducted.
He said the university would continue to improve programmes with interim status and maintain standards in teaching, research and community service.
The accreditation outcome further strengthens PAAU’s reputation as an emerging centre of academic excellence in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
