The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms, ammunition and a stolen Lexus SUV in a series of operations across the country.
In its operational update for October 16, the police said two suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate were arrested in Oyo State, leading to the recovery of a stolen, unregistered black Lexus 350 SUV and the arrest of two alleged receivers in Lagos.
In Ebonyi State, operatives arrested a suspect and recovered two locally made pistols and 11 cartridges, while another suspect was arrested in Rivers State with 20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.
The police also arrested a 35-year-old man over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl in Ebonyi State.
Meanwhile, security forces are conducting counter-terrorism operations following a suspected Boko Haram attack in Zangula village, Adamawa State. Tactical teams have also been deployed to rescue abducted victims and apprehend suspected bandits in Niger and Zamfara states.
In Zamfara, three commuters reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during an attack along Kurar Mota Road and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The police said investigations were ongoing into the various cases, including the suspected murder of a man in Ogun State, as security operatives intensified efforts to apprehend fleeing suspects and rescue abducted victims.
