The Imo State Police Command says it has deployed adequate security across all accredited examination centres in the state ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled to hold from April 16 to 25.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, assured candidates, officials and the public of a safe and hitch-free exercise, with personnel and operational assets positioned across all locations.

The statement said the CP gave the directive during a strategic security meeting at the Command Headquarters, instructing Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to identify all JAMB offices and examination centres within their jurisdictions and ensure comprehensive security coverage before, during and after the examinations.
It added that visibility policing has been intensified across the state, with sustained patrols and surveillance around examination centres to deter criminal activities and enable swift response to threats. Officers were also warned to carry out their duties diligently or face disciplinary action.

The Command further stated that personnel from the State Intelligence Department have been deployed to provide intelligence support and strengthen operational readiness at all examination locations.
While wishing candidates success, the police cautioned against examination malpractice and disorderly conduct, noting that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law. The Command also urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies throughout the examination period.
