Police, NPTF Commission New Command, Divisional Headquarters in Taraba

The Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) have commissioned a new Taraba State Police Command Headquarters and a modern Divisional Police Headquarters in Yorro Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen security infrastructure and enhance policing in the state.

The projects were inaugurated on Wednesday by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, alongside the Taraba State Government and representatives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police at the event, the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, CP Morkwap Sebastine Dongshal, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for their continued support towards improving the operational capacity of the Force.

According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, CP Dongshal said the newly commissioned facilities align with the IGP’s vision of people-centred policing, which prioritises improved welfare, modern infrastructure and a conducive working environment for police personnel.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through the provision of modern infrastructure and other critical resources required for effective policing.

He said the projects reflect the Federal Government’s determination to strengthen internal security and improve the capacity of the police to discharge their constitutional responsibilities efficiently.

Sheidu also assured that the Trust Fund would continue to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing personnel welfare, boosting operational efficiency and improving service delivery nationwide.

The Governor of Taraba State, Lieutenant Colonel Agbu Kefas (Rtd), represented by retired Commissioner of Police Cyril Agbe, commended the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for the intervention, describing the projects as strategic investments that would contribute to the security and development of the state.

The commissioning of the facilities is expected to improve police operations, strengthen law enforcement capabilities and provide a more conducive environment for officers serving in the state.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to leveraging strategic partnerships to enhance operational effectiveness, improve personnel welfare and deliver quality policing services to Nigerians.
