The Anambra State Police Command has received the Secretary of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, on a monitoring tour of the ongoing police recruitment screening exercise in the South-East.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the visit, which took place on April 17, 2026, is part of the Commission’s oversight to ensure the exercise complies with established guidelines, with emphasis on transparency, fairness and merit.

During the tour, the PSC Secretary assessed screening procedures and interacted with officials, including representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the PSC, the Federal Character Commission and other stakeholders. He said the Commission would continue to collaborate with the Command to improve sensitisation and encourage more indigenes to join the Force, while commending the level of organisation and professionalism of theAnambra recruitment screening team.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining standards throughout the exercise. He said measures had been put in place to ensure a credible and hitch-free process.
The Command assured the public that the recruitment exercise remains transparent and merit-based, and urged applicants to comply with all guidelines. It also reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the capacity and integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
