PRESIDENT TINUBU COMMISSIONS 13KM GOMANI-DAFA-YANGOJI ROAD IN KWALI

KWALI, FCT – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, officially commissioned the newly completed 13-kilometre Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road in the Kwali Area Council, describing it as a concrete step toward closing the infrastructure gap between Abuja’s urban core and its rural settlements.

Represented at the ceremony by Senate President, Obong Godswill Akpabio, the President said the road, delivered in under 12 months, is a flagship deliverable of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Abuja Cannot Be a City of Two Worlds”
Addressing traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents who turned out in large numbers, President Tinubu said the project was conceived to end the disconnect between “gleaming districts and forgotten settlements.”

“Abuja cannot be a city of two worlds, with gleaming districts and forgotten settlements. This road rejects that divide. It connects Gomani, Dafa, and Yangoji to markets, schools, hospitals, and opportunities. It says clearly that the wealth of this nation belongs to all of us,” he stated.

The President noted that poor rural infrastructure has historically trapped farmers in cycles of loss, with produce rotting before it reaches urban markets. He said the new corridor will reposition Kwali as a primary food-producing hub for the FCT and neighbouring states.

Built to Last, Backed by Security Appeal
According to the President, the road was constructed with advanced drainage systems and full streetlighting to improve safety, extend market hours, and reduce post-harvest losses. He urged host communities to protect the asset.

“I appeal to our traditional rulers and youth: guard this infrastructure. Do not allow vandalism or encroachment to undo what your government has built for you,” he said.

Commendation for Wike, FCTA Team, and Contractor
President Tinubu commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for “meticulously enforcing” the presidential directive to balance city and rural development. He praised the Minister’s vision, “close supervision,” and insistence on results-driven delivery.

He also lauded the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and the entire FCT Administration for teamwork that ensured timely completion, and congratulated Zeberced Limited for delivering quality work ahead of schedule.

“Era of Abandoned Projects is Over”
In a firm policy restatement, the President declared that government will no longer tolerate abandoned projects.

“Let me say this plainly: the era of starting projects only to abandon them is over. We will fund, we will finish, and we will maintain. From city expressways to rural access roads, every naira of public money must show up as value for the citizen. Infrastructure is the floor on which every other ambition stands. We will keep laying it, district by district, council by council,” he said.

Wike: Community-Led, Delivered Early
Earlier, Minister Wike disclosed that the contract was awarded in November 2025 and completed ahead of its 12-month timeline, in nine months.

He said the road emerged from a community-led process in which the Council Chairman and traditional rulers nominated a 43km network of priority roads to address security and livelihood concerns. The Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji stretch is the fourth rural infrastructure project commissioned to mark the administration’s third anniversary.

“What it shows is that all these things we are doing is not rocket science. It is a demonstration of commitment by this administration and the contractors,” Wike said.

Technical Overview
Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Hon. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, said the 13km road from Gomani through Pai to Yangoji was awarded in November 2025 and completed in eight months to approved specifications and quality standards.

He described it as “a testament of the FCT Administration’s determination to breach infrastructure gaps and ensure that residents of satellite towns and area councils enjoy the benefit of sustainable development.”

FCTA, Contractor Respond
Head of Service of the FCTA, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the President for visionary leadership, to the National Assembly for oversight, and to Gomani and neighbouring communities for patience during construction.

Managing Director of Zeberced Limited, Adil Adin Kurt, thanked the FCT Administration for its confidence and reiterated the company’s wider commitment to the region through ongoing investments in industry, education, and sports.
