President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated the commitment of his administration to building infrastructure that serves the people and unlock economic potentials.
The President stated this when he commissioned the newly constructed right-hand service carriageway of the Inner Northern Expressway (INEX) from Ring Road 3 (RR3) to Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), in Abuja.
He said, “This vital carriageway we commission today is not just a road; it is a symbol of progress and a reflection of our administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda — an agenda committed to building infrastructure that serves the people, unlocks economic potential, and supports sustainable development”.
Commending the FCT Administration, led by the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for its vision, commitment to quality and timely execution of project, the President also described the new road as a critical piece of the Federal Capital Territory’s master plan, designed to ease traffic flow, enhance connectivity, and improve urban mobility for millions of commuters, residents, and businesses in the city.
The President who was represented by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, said it has become imperative for the continuous expansion and maintenance of critical routes as traffic volume increases in the FCT and across the satellite towns, adding that the road will not only decongest key junctions but also facilitate safer, faster movement within Abuja’s transportation corridors while opening up more opportunities for business, housing, and investment in the adjoining districts.
He further said, “We are determined to replicate this success in every part of the country, with roads, bridges, railways, and more, ensuring that no region is left behind.
“To the residents and road users, I appeal to you: protect this infrastructure, obey traffic rules, and treat public assets with respect. They belong to all of us and to generations yet unborn”.
Earlier, a visibly excited FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, who expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for keeping to his promise to be part of the commissioning of 10 of the 17 completed projects by the FCTA to celebrate his two years in office, said infrastructure around the Idu district will catalyse industrial growth and create jobs for residents.
He assured that he will not slow in delivering infrastructure that improves the lives of resident, saying, “Where there are roads to be completed, we will complete them. Where contractors fail to deliver, we will not hesitate to terminate and re-award contracts to those ready to work”.
In her remarks the Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud while thanking the President for his continued support for the FCTA also appreciated the FCT Minister for his outstanding and result driven initiatives in the development of the FCT, adding, “The people of Abuja will never ever forget you”.
Giving the technical brief of the project, the Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda said the completion of the road has opened up the area for development, reduce travel time and enhance security in the area, adding that it has also provide a link between the different areas of the city to the industrial area.
