Several terrorists have been killed in a precision air strike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) targeting hideouts in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
According to a press release signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strike was carried out on April 19, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI following credible intelligence.
The statement said Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirmed the presence of террорист elements within fortified structures and bunkers in the area, prompting the deployment of NAF air assets.
The air strikes destroyed the structures, neutralised several fighters and eliminated key logistics facilities, with subsequent battle damage assessment confirming the impact of the operation.
The NAF said the sustained tempo of air operations in the North-East continues to degrade terrorist networks, forcing them into reactive actions under increasing pressure.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to ongoing operations, stating that the service will sustain intelligence-driven air strikes until terrorist elements are neutralised.
He added that the NAF would continue precision engagements across the theatre while adhering to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm.
