Six Escape Bandits’ Den, Rescued by Troops in Katsina

Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued six people who were abducted by suspected bandits in Katsina State.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Abayomi Adisa, the victims were rescued on 29 June during a routine foot patrol by troops deployed at Unguwan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area.

The Army said the patrol team found the six victims—four women and two young boys—wandering in the bush after they escaped from their captors. They were identified as Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 16; Safiya Isiaku, 15; Ramatu Suleiman, 30; Muhammad Shehu, 4; and Ibrahim Suleiman, 2.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the victims were abducted by suspected armed bandits from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on 22 June.

The Army said the rescued victims received first aid, food and other immediate assistance before they were reunited with their families.

Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining operations against criminal groups while ensuring the safety of lives and property across its area of responsibility.
