Six More Abductees Freed in Ongoing Borno Rescue Mission

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued six more abducted persons, including four adults and two infants, during ongoing search and rescue operations in Borno State.

In a statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, the military said the victims were rescued at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area following sustained air and ground operations backed by credible intelligence.

According to the statement, the rescued victims were among those abducted from Mussa community in Askira/Uba Local Government Area in May. They have since been evacuated to a secure location where they are undergoing medical evaluation and receiving appropriate care.

The military said relief materials and other essential items had been provided to the victims while arrangements were being made for their safe reunification with their families.

Operation HADIN KAI said troops remain in pursuit of the fleeing insurgents and recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned along the terrorists’ withdrawal route during follow-up operations.

The theatre command described the rescue as another indication of the effectiveness of the coordinated search and rescue efforts involving the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, other security agencies and auxiliary forces.

It added that operations would continue until all remaining abducted persons are rescued, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies while avoiding the spread of unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
