Three persons living with disabilities have been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for alleged drug trafficking during separate operations in Anambra and Kwara states.

In a statement signed by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, the agency said a 60-year-old suspect, Romanus Nwabara, was arrested in Akpaka Forest, Onitsha, Anambra State, with 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.

The statement added that another suspect, Amos Kenneth, 25, was arrested in Ogbunike area of Anambra State with 160.3 grams of Tramadol, 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol-5, and 176.93 grams of skunk.

In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu intercepted a commercial vehicle and arrested Usman Salisu after allegedly discovering 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a school bag.

The anti-narcotics agency also uncovered a Lekki mansion in Lagos allegedly used as a drug stash house, where operatives recovered 4,000 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at about N5.8 billion.

The agency said the raid, carried out by a Special Operations Unit, also led to the seizure of two Mercedes-Benz buses and packaging materials used for retail distribution of the drugs.

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Osita Okeke, 38, was arrested in Nyanya Karu, Nasarawa State, with 129 kilograms of skunk.

Similarly, NDLEA operatives along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State intercepted a commuter bus heading to Abuja and recovered 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms.

Three suspects identified as Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa were arrested in connection with the seizure.

In Lagos, NDLEA officers raided a makeshift skuchies production factory in Ijora Badia, where two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were arrested.

According to the agency, the suspects were allegedly caught producing skuchies, a drug mixture made from cannabis and other substances. About 270 litres of the substance and 106 grams of Tramadol were recovered during the operation.

The agency also said it sustained its War Against Drug Abuse sensitisation campaign across schools, worship centres, and communities in several states.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the operations and urged them to sustain ongoing anti-drug efforts across the country.
