Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised three terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a fighting patrol in Zamfara State.
The operation, conducted by troops of Sector 2 on Thursday, targeted terrorist enclaves in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas as part of ongoing efforts to curb insecurity and deny criminal elements freedom of movement across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops encountered armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village, leading to a fierce gun battle.

The statement noted that the troops overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee after suffering heavy casualties.
Items recovered after the operation included one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines and 571 rounds of ammunition.
The military also confirmed that no casualty was recorded among the troops during the operation.

The task force described the latest success as a reflection of the commitment, resilience and professionalism of troops engaged in ongoing operations against terrorism and other criminal activities in the North West.
It further appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and security in Zamfara State and the wider North West region.
