Tinubu Flags Off Two Major Abuja Road Projects, Yilwatda Highlights Infrastructure Agenda

President Bola Tinubu has flagged off two major road projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improved connectivity in Abuja.

The President was represented at the ceremonies by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who delivered the President’s address at the groundbreaking events.

The projects include the construction of two service carriageways of the Southern Parkway from Arterial Road S20 to Ring Road II in Gaduwa District and the construction of Collector Road CO1 in the Institution and Research District from the Nile University axis to Ring Road III.

Speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, Yilwatda described the Southern Parkway project as a key component of the administration’s infrastructure development programme and a practical demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the road corridor is critical to Abuja’s transportation network and will improve connectivity across several districts, including Durumi, Gudu, Gaduwa and Duboyi.

According to him, the completion of the service carriageways will ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time and lower transportation costs for residents and businesses operating within the affected areas.

At the second ceremony, Yilwatda said the Collector Road CO1 project would support education, innovation and economic growth by improving access to universities, research institutions and other key facilities within the Institution and Research District.

He noted that the project would complement existing infrastructure around Nile University, Baze University and the Body of Benchers complex, enhancing mobility and supporting the growth of a knowledge-driven economy.

The APC National Chairman also conveyed President Tinubu’s assurance that the administration would continue to complete inherited projects while initiating new strategic developments aimed at delivering long-term economic and social benefits.

Yilwatda commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as effective leadership and the accelerated execution of infrastructure projects across Abuja.

He said the minister’s efforts had transformed the FCT into a major construction hub and advanced the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the capital city.

The President also urged contractors handling the projects to maintain quality standards, adhere to timelines and create employment opportunities for Nigerians during the construction process.

The two projects are expected to improve urban mobility, strengthen connectivity and support the long-term development objectives of the Federal Capital Territory.
