President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally entered the race for the 2027 general elections after the purchase of his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The forms, valued at N100 million, were obtained on his behalf at the Abuja Continental Hotel by James Faleke, alongside party supporters and loyalists.

Tinubu, who was elected President in the 2023 general election and sworn in on May 29, 2023, is seeking a second and final four-year term as permitted under Nigeria’s constitution. If re-elected in 2027, his tenure would run until May 29, 2031.

The President, a former governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, remains one of the most influential figures in Nigerian politics and theleader of the ruling APC.

The purchase of the forms marks his formal participation in the party’s internal process ahead of the 2027 presidential primaries.

Speaking during the exercise, APC National Organising Secretary Suleiman Argungu said the development reflected the party’s readiness to conduct a transparent and democratic primary election.

Under the party’s current guidelines, the presidential nomination form remains pegged at N100 million, the same pricing structure used in previous election cycles.

Tinubu is expected to seek the APC ticket as the incumbent president, a position that traditionally gives him a strong advantage within the ruling party.

The APC is expected to release a detailed timetable for screening aspirants and conductingits primary elections in the coming weeks.
