Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have overrun a Lakurawa terrorist enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, neutralising several terrorists and recovering weapons and five motorcycles.
The operation was conducted on October 15, following a clearance advance through identified terrorist hideouts around Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages towards Waria Forest.

According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to flee deeper into the forest.
The statement added that troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and subsequently destroyed their camps and other support structures.
It said troops had maintained a strong presence in the area, continuing clearance operations to deny the terrorists safe havens and protect surrounding communities.
The Theatre Command urged residents to provide credible and timely information on suspicious movements to support ongoing security operations.
