Troops Foil Terrorist Attack, Recover Rustled Cattle in Sokoto

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a terrorist attack and recovered a large herd of rustled cattle in Asarara Kaura community, Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that armed terrorists had infiltrated the community, terrorised residents and rustled a significant number of livestock.

According to a statement by the military, the troops swiftly mobilised to intercept the terrorists as they attempted to escape with the stolen cattle. The troops later engaged the fleeing terrorists along the Tambuwal-Gadaichi-Gummi Road axis, forcing them to abandon the livestock and flee into the surrounding bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

The recovery of the cattle brought relief to residents of Asarara Kaura and neighbouring communities, who reportedly turned out in large numbers to commend the troops for their prompt response.

The recovered livestock is currently in military custody pending its formal handover to the Chairman of the Sokoto State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals.The committee is expected to verify the ownership of the cattle and facilitate their return to the affected residents.
