Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in a series of coordinated operations across Borno State, the military has said.
In a statement on Thursday, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba reported that Sector 1 troops launched a pre-dawn offensive on 28 January at Bula Dalo, where they killed more than a dozen militants and forced others to flee. Soldiers recovered four AK-47 rifles, a PKT anti-aircraft gun, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and a multiple grenade launcher. A separate strike on Garno camp led to the death of six more fighters and the destruction of key structures, along with the seizure of a large cache of anti-aircraft ammunition.
The following day, troops in Sector 2 came under attack at Sabon Gari when ISWAP fighters, backed by several armed drones, attempted to breach their defensive lines. Although the militants briefly penetrated part of the location, reinforcements helped restore control and repel the assault.
The military confirmed that some soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed during the attack. An excavator and a lowbed truck were also damaged by drone strikes. Clearance operations are continuing in the area.
The Military High Command praised the troops for what it described as their gallant performance and urged them to remain vigilant as counter-terrorism operations intensify in the North-East.
