Outgoing General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has urged commanders and troops to sustain operational momentum, stressing that change of leadership should not affect commitment to duty and operational effectiveness.

According to a statement signed by Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 7 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani, Brigadier General Unachukwu gave the charge during the handing and taking over ceremony held at the Headquarters 7 Division, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, where he formally handed over command to Brigadier General Solomon Diwa.

In his valedictory remarks, the outgoing GOC described his tenure as challenging but successful, noting that the division was morestable than when he assumed command in April 2025. He commended commanders and troops for their resilience and dedication to ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.
Brigadier General Unachukwu also expressed appreciation to officers, soldiers, and religious leaders within the division for their support during his tenure, while urging troops to remain focused and extend the same loyalty and cooperation to the new commander.

In his maiden address, Brigadier General Diwa pledged to consolidate on existing operational gains and introduce new strategies aimed at strengthening security operations within the division’s area of responsibility.
