Wike Gets Hero’s Welcome in Yangoji as FCT Minister Inspects Completed Gomani Road

Residents of Yangoji in Kwali Area Council trooped out en masse on Monday, June 1, 2026, to receive the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during an inspection tour of the newly completed Gomani-Yangoji Road.

The crowd that lined the streets of Yangoji and Dafa caught even the Minister by surprise. Addressing journalists after touring projects in Gbazango, Bwari Area Council, and Yangoji, Wike said the reception was proof that rural communities were finally feeling the impact of government.

“They Never Felt Any Impact Before”
“We can see how happy the natives here are. You can see the people are happy. We are also happy too,” Wike said.

He explained that he did not announce the visit to Yangoji in advance, so the turnout was spontaneous.

“Things were bad. Things are getting better. We have come to change their lives. They have been hearing, ‘government, government’ but now they can see what government means. They never believed that this could happen. They never felt any impact of the government before. They are happy. It makes us happy too. This is the evidence of the Renewed Hope Agenda – to make people believe that things can come back to what they are supposed to be,” the Minister stated.

Wike promised to continue delivering projects that improve the lives of rural dwellers and bring more “dividends of democracy” to Area Councils.

Gomani-Yangoji Road “Virtually Completed”
The Minister inspected the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway to Dafa, Yangoji, then Gomani road in Kwali Area Council, constructed by Messrs Zeberced. He said the project is virtually completed, with only streetlights and a few drainages left to be installed.

“They have kept to terms, and I want to recognize Zeberced for a job well done,” Wike commended the contractor for meeting timelines and adhering to specifications.

Earlier in the day, he also visited the Gbazango, popularly called “Arab Road,” project in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, also handled by Zeberced. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that it shows the FCT Administration is “ready for the 3rd Anniversary celebration of Mr President.”

On Opposition Coalition
Asked about the state of the opposition coalition, Wike repeated comments he made earlier during a media chat. He dismissed it as a gathering of politicians driven by “personal selfish interest.”

According to him, the coalition was originally formed to push for Atiku Abubakar’s emergence. With the disagreements that followed, he said the coast is now “very much clear” for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
