By Toffa Momoh I Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed the FCT Administration’s commitment to partnering with DAAR Communication Plc to establish a Media City in the Asokoro District of Abuja.
The project, a first-of-its-kind in Nigeria, aims to enhance media production technology, stimulate tourism, and create opportunities for small and medium-scale enterprises.

During a courtesy visit by DAAR Communication’s Board and Management, led by Chairman Chief Raymond Dokpesi (Jnr), Minister Wike assured the media outfit of his support, citing the project’s potential to boost Abuja’s profile. He directed the Department of Land Administration to resolve long-standing land documentation issues concerning DAAR Communication’s Plot 4241 in Asokoro.
Wike praised DAAR Communications for its professionalism and contributions to national development, urging media professionals to prioritize factual and evidence-based reporting. He expressed concern over misleading reports and challenged the media to hold politicians accountable to due process.

The Minister’s support for the Media City project includes providing quality infrastructure and addressing issues hindering its development. DAAR Communication has appreciated the Minister’s interventions, including the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for their headquarters and cessation of indiscriminate rock blasting in Asokoro.
