Yilwatda Says Ekiti, Bye-Election Victories Validate APC Governance Agenda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the party’s victory in the Ekiti State governorship election and its strong performance in recent bye-elections across the country as a clear endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy and the reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the outcome of the elections showed that Nigerians appreciate performance-driven leadership and are beginning to see the long-term benefits of ongoing economic and institutional reforms.

The APC chairman said Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election in Ekiti State demonstrated that voters reward good governance, accountability and visible development.

“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics,” Yilwatda said, adding that Oyebanji’s victory was a reward for what he described as visionary leadership, prudent resource management and inclusive governance.

He noted that the APC’s victories in five of the six bye-elections conducted nationwide further reflected growing public confidence in the party and its development agenda.

Yilwatda described the Ekiti governorship election as a national reference point, arguing that citizens respond positively when governments deliver tangible results in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and social development.

According to him, the election outcome reinforced the APC’s position that performance-based governance remains electorally rewarding, even during periods of economic transition.

The APC chairman also linked the electoral successes to President Tinubu’s reform programme, saying the administration’s policies were laying the foundation for a more resilient and competitive economy despite inherited structural challenges.

He said the victories should be viewed not only as electoral gains but also as validation of a governing philosophy anchored on bold leadership, responsible decision-making and sustainable development.

Yilwatda congratulated President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, APC leaders and members across the country, as well as candidates who emerged victorious in the bye-elections.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the people of Ekiti State for the peaceful conduct of the election.

The APC National Chairman assured Nigerians that the ruling party would remain committed to delivering good governance, economic renewal and inclusive development across the country.
