The Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has visited troops at the Forward Operating Base in Mairari to boost morale following two recent insurgent attacks that soldiers successfully repelled.
On a tour of northern Borno, the governor praised troops for what he called their bravery and sacrifice, promising continued logistical support and welfare assistance. He said the state government, working with federal authorities and military commanders, would ensure a steady supply of equipment and support to keep forces ready for operations.

Sector 3 Commander, Major General Suleiman Saidu Tilawan, thanked the governor for what he described as consistent backing that had strengthened troop confidence and improved logistics.
Zulum also met residents of Mairari, offered cash assistance to victims of recent attacks and commended the community’s resilience.

Earlier, he inspected the dilapidated Federal Government College in Monguno, where classrooms, laboratories and staff quarters have been badly damaged by years of insurgency. Zulum said the government would prioritise the school’s rehabilitation to restore education for children in Monguno and surrounding areas.
During the visit, he met widows sheltering in abandoned buildings, gave them cash support and arranged nursing college admission for some of their daughters.
