The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a new interim leadership during its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

Senator David Mark was sworn in as Interim National Chairman, with former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, appointed as Interim National Secretary.

In his address, Senator Mark pledged to promote internal democracy, transparency, and inclusivity within the party. He announced a 35% reservation of leadership positions for women and committed to active participation of youths under 40. He also revealed plans to establish a 50-member Policy Committee tasked with reviewing the party’s manifesto and driving policy reforms across critical sectors.

Outgoing National Chairman, Hon. Ralph Nwosu, commended the party for resisting political pressure and financial inducements, saying the ADC had remained steadfast in defending democratic values. “ADC said no to dictatorship. We stood our ground for democracy,” he declared.

The NEC also reinstated expelled party members, excluding 2023 presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu, and unanimously passed a motion to dissolve the previous National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), handing full authority to the new interim leadership until new congresses are convened.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to observe the proceedings.
