Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 11 kidnapped victims following separate operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims were rescued in Ribah town and the Wasagu-Falfala general area after troops foiled an attempted invasion and repelled a terrorist ambush.
According to a statement by the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, the first operation took place on October 30, when troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over suspected terrorists who had blocked the Ribah-Dirindaji road while attempting to attack Ribah town.
On arrival, the troops discovered that the attackers had abducted seven residents and fled towards Rambo village.
The military personnel pursued the fleeing assailants, forcing them to abandon the victims under sustained pressure.
The rescued persons, all indigenes of Ribah town, have since been reunited with their families.

In a separate operation on October 31, troops conducting a routine patrol in the Wasagu-Falfala general area came under attack from terrorists who had laid an ambush along their route.
The troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat and abandon four kidnapped victims during the exchange of gunfire.
The rescued victims, aged between 14 and 20, were identified as residents of Wasagu village and subsequently handed over to the village head.
The military said troops had continued to dominate the area through patrols and confidence-building measures to prevent further attacks and protect residents.
The statement urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
It reaffirmed Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s commitment to protecting civilians and critical infrastructure across its area of responsibility.
