The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday led officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force on a walkathon in Abuja as part of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day.
The exercise, which took off from the Force Headquarters and ended at the Unity Fountain, drew participation from police personnel and members of the public.

The walkathon, themed “Together We Walk, Together We Secure,” was organised to promote unity, physical fitness, and stronger collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.
Speaking at the event, the police leadership emphasised the importance of community partnership in enhancing security and maintainingpeace across the country.

The exercise is also being replicated in commands and formations nationwide as part of activities lined up for the celebration.
The Nigeria Police Force said the initiative is aimed at fostering closer ties with citizens while encouraging officers to maintain physical and mental fitness in the discharge of their duties.
The National Police Day celebration is part of ongoing efforts by the Force to build public trust and improve community-oriented policing across Nigeria.
