With the aim of building trust and promoting the protection of human rights in Nigeria, Lift for Citizens Development and Advancement (LICDA), in partnership with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), organized a Citizens and Security Agents Dialogue and Training.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, Tony Ojukwu, represented at the event by Dr. Kelechi Akubueze, emphasized that human rights and security are not in conflict. He noted that respect for human rights strengthens security efforts, as communities are more willing to cooperate with law enforcement agencies when trust is established.
On her part, the Operations and Partnership Lead at LICDA, Mrs. Chukwu Gloria Chidiebere, explained that the dialogue was organized to help bridge the gap between citizens and security agencies, creating a platform for open communication and collaboration.
Also speaking, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Otunba Bolaji Adigun, stated that dialogue remains a key tool in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges within communities.

A representative of the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Department, Odoh O. Fidelis, highlighted existing mechanisms that enable members of the public to report misconduct by police officers. He assured participants that officers found guilty of misconduct are investigated and sanctioned accordingly.
The event brought together representatives from several security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Community Relations Committee, the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), as well as members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
