The Nigerian Army and Denmark are seeking to strengthen defence cooperation in intelligence sharing, tactical training and military technology to tackle emerging security threats and improve regional stability.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, on Friday, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, made the call while receiving the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens Ole Bach Hansen, and Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Henrik Laugesen, at Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Shaibu said stronger military partnerships would improve operational effectiveness through the exchange of expertise, professional military education and modern tactical capabilities.
He identified force protection, border surveillance and personnel development as key areas of collaboration, noting that the initiatives could strengthen operations in the North East and North West.
The Danish ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to expand security cooperation beyond existing maritime initiatives in the Gulf of Guinea to include direct engagement with the Nigerian Army.

Hansen also commended Nigerian troops for their resilience and operational achievements, while conveying Denmark’s condolences over military personnel killed in the line of duty.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to mutually beneficial defence cooperation to strengthen national and regional security.
