Dr Benjamin Obiora Nwoye has pledged to promote unity and inclusiveness within Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after emerging as the party’s Deputy National Chairman South.
In a statement delivered during a gathering of party stakeholders and supporters, Nwoye expressed gratitude for what he described as a collective mandate, promising not to take the trust reposed in him for granted.
Supporters from different regions of the country, including the South-East, South-South and South-West, attended the event, describing his emergence as widely accepted across party lines. Several speakers praised his leadership qualities, humility and long-standing contributions to the party.

Alhaji Aminu Yakubu, a party leader, said Nwoye’sappointment had reassured members that their interests would be represented in key decisions, urging him to remain inclusive in his leadership.
Another supporter, Suleman Latunji from Lagos, described Nwoye as a role model, saying his emergence reflected broad support and a “collective project” within the party.
Others at the event highlighted his record of service and called for patience as he settles into office, urging party members to support his leadership.
In his remarks, Nwoye thanked party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve, and acknowledged grassroots members across the country for their support.

He said his leadership would focus on “renewed unity and bridge-building”, adding that the party must rise above internal divisions and strengthen cohesion.
“There will be no room for exclusion or division. The time now is for healing, reconciliation and collective progress,” he said.
Nwoye also pledged to reposition the party for future electoral success, calling on members nationwide to work together to secure victories for APC candidates in upcoming elections.
He described his emergence as a shared victory for party members across regions, emphasising the need for greater engagement and inclusion at all levels.
The APC chieftain said his tenure would prioritisereconnecting with members, fostering dialogue and ensuring that all voices within the party are heard.
