The Vice President, Yemi Osinbanjo, has said the federal government will continue to invest in support services that protect children affected by violence.

Speaking at the National Dialogue on Violence Against Children held on Thursday in Abuja, Prof. Osinbajo stressed that children should be able to report incidents of violence and services will be available to them.

The Vice President said the Government will deepen efforts towards achieving universal birth registration in order to improve the lives of the country’s most vulnerable children.
On her part, the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, said approximately 6 out of every 10 Nigerian Children experience some form of violence before the age of 18.
According to her, one in two children have experienced physical violence, one in four girls and one in 10 boys experienced sexual violence.
Also speaking, the Speaker, National Children’s Parliament, Maisara Abbas, urged the Government to provide the necessary learning equipment for the children living with disabilities to gain access to quality Education.
Abbas added that the Government should look into the plight of the Almajiri children.
