The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has approved the appointment and redeployment of 65 Rear Admirals in the Nigerian Navy to various key positions at the Naval Headquarters, Commands, and Tri-Service Institutions. The large-scale postings, approved on Thursday, October 30, 2025, reflect the CNS’s renewed effort to strengthen the Navy’s operational efficiency and fulfil its constitutional mandate following his assumption of office as the 23rd indigenous naval chief. Among those appointed are Rear Admiral Suleiman Abdullahi,now Chief of Logistics at Naval Headquarters; Rear Admiral Kasim Bushi, who moves to the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria as Executive Director; and Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, who assumes duty as Commandant of the National Defence College.

According to the statement signed by Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, Director of Information, the appointments also include Rear Admiral Musa Katagum as Chief of Operations at Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Fredrick Damtong as Chief of Naval Engineering, and Rear AdmiralAbdul-Rasheed Haruna as Chief of Training. Others are Rear Admiral Hamza Ibrahim as Group Managing Director, Navy Holdings Limited; Rear Admiral Jonathan Mamman as Chief of Administration; and Rear Admiral Kehinde Odubanjo as Director General, Defence Research and Development Bureau. Additionally, Rear Admiral Olatunde Olodude was appointed Chief of Policy and Plans, while Rear Admiral Chijioke Onyemaobi becomes Chief of Naval Transformation.

Further appointments saw Rear Admiral Abiodun Alade assume the role of Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Logistics Command, and Rear Admiral Pakiribo Anabraba take over as Chief of Naval Safety and Standards. Rear Admiral Patrick Effah was appointed Chief of Communications and Information Technology, while Rear Admiral Bob-Manuel Effiong and Rear Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim become FOCs of the Naval Doctrine Command and Central Naval Command, respectively. Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha was named FOC, Western Naval Command; Rear Admiral Chidozie Okehie, FOC Eastern Naval Command; and Rear Admiral Ebiobowei Zipele,FOC Naval Training Command.

In other postings, Rear Admiral Mohammed Muye was appointed Commandant of the Naval War College Nigeria, while Rear Admiral Umaru Faruk takes over as Managing Director, Naval Engineering Services Limited. Rear Admiral Madumom Ide was named Director of Plans at Naval Headquarters, and Rear Admiral Paul Efe-Oghene becomes Director of Development and Production at the Defence Research and Development Bureau. Also appointed were Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga as Director ofManning, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeek as Director of Veteran Affairs, and Rear Admiral Musiu Yussuff as Director of Marine Engineering at Naval Headquarters.

While congratulating the newly appointed senior officers, Vice Admiral Abbas charged them to rededicate themselves to service and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them as the Nigerian Navy continues to enhance maritime security,Manning, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeek as Director of Veteran Affairs, and Rear Admiral Musiu Yussuff as Director of Marine Engineering at Naval Headquarters.
