The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has approved the appointment and redeployment of 65 Rear Admirals in the Nigerian Navy to various key positions at the Naval Headquarters, Commands, and Tri-Service Institutions. The large-scale postings, approved on Thursday, October 30, 2025, reflect the CNS’s renewed effort to strengthen the Navy’s operational efficiency and fulfil its constitutional mandate following his assumption of office as the 23rd indigenous naval chief. Among those appointed are Rear Admiral Suleiman Abdullahi,now Chief of Logistics at Naval Headquarters; Rear Admiral Kasim Bushi, who moves to the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria as Executive Director; and Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, who assumes duty as Commandant of the National Defence College.

According to the statement signed by Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, Director of Information, the appointments also include Rear Admiral Musa Katagum as Chief of Operations at Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Fredrick Damtong as Chief of Naval Engineering, and Rear AdmiralAbdul-Rasheed Haruna as Chief of Training.
